Read the modes section for more information
How does Story Mode work?
In Story Mode, the app generates a short story incorporating words from your selected list. As the story unfolds, you will be prompted to spell certain words to continue. This makes learning more engaging by integrating spelling into an interactive narrative.
Can I create my own word lists?
Yes! You can create custom word lists by going opening the word list modal and clicking 'New Word List'. You then enter the wordlist name and the words in a text box separated by a comma. These lists can then be used in any of the spelling modes.
How does the difficulty level affect my practice?
The difficulty level determines how much of the word is revealed when using hints. At higher difficulty levels, more letters will be hidden, making it more challenging. The app also adjusts difficulty dynamically based on your spelling accuracy in Mastery Mode.
Progress & Performance - Answers
Go backHow is my progress tracked?
Your progress is tracked based on the words you spell correctly and incorrectly. The app records your accuracy, the number of attempts per word, and how frequently you need to retry a word before mastering it. This data is used to adjust word difficulty and show you your progress.
Where can I see my mistake history?
You can view your mistake history in the Performance Dashboard section of the app. This section provides a breakdown of words you’ve struggled with, allowing you to revisit them in future practice sessions.
How does Mastery Mode work?
Mastery Mode adapts to your spelling performance. Words you frequently misspell will appear more often, while words you consistently spell correctly will be marked as mastered and appear less frequently. The goal is to reinforce learning by gradually increasing the challenge.
Can I reset my progress?
Currently, the only way to reset Mastery progress is to edit your word list. Editing and saving the wordlist without changing the words will allow you to go through Mastery Mode with that word list again.
Settings & Customization - Answers
Go backWhat does the ‘Repeat Number’ setting do?
The ‘Repeat Number’ setting controls how many times each word appears in a spelling session. If set to a higher number, words will be repeated more often, reinforcing learning. Lower numbers reduce repetition, making sessions more varied.
Can I change the voice settings?
Yes, you can enable or disable voice feedback in the settings. When enabled, the app will pronounce each word before you attempt to spell it. This feature is useful for auditory learners.
How do I change the background color?
The background color can be adjusted in the settings menu. This feature helps improve visibility and comfort based on user preference.
What happens when I change the number of sentences in Story Mode?
Adjusting the number of sentences in Story Mode determines the length of the generated story. A higher number creates a longer, more detailed story, while a lower number makes the story shorter and more concise.
